Diplocraterion

A vertical U-shaped burrow with a spreite (a web of curved laminae) between the two limbs. Protrusive spreite (between the tubes) suggests erosion, with the animal burrowing deeper; retrusive spreite (below the tubes) records the animal adjusting up and down as sediment was eroded and deposited.

Behavior
Dwelling
Likely maker
Crustaceans (textbook); organisms maintaining a set depth in the sediment.
Age range
Not stated in the sources used here; cited studies include Cambrian tidal deposits.
Setting
