Fossils in thin section

Ostracods in thin section

Tiny two-valved arthropods, usually under 1 mm. The thin valves are hinged and slightly overlap, so sections look asymmetric, with a hook-shaped edge opposite the hinge. Usually fine prismatic microstructure. Calcispheres are often abundant nearby.
